The author

From Birmingham to Andalusia. From Stage to Page.

A lifetime of dance, history and storytelling.

K. M. Pritchard was born in Birmingham, England, and began dancing at the age of six. After performing on stage and television, she trained as a ballet teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance. Since 1992, she has been passing on her love of dance to children and young adults, many of whom have gone on to enjoy successful performing careers of their own.

In the early 1990s, she fell head over heels, very gracefully, for flamenco. That passion eventually led her to Andalucía, where she danced in the legendary caves of Sacromonte, taught in Almería, and finally settled in Jerez de la Frontera, where she has lived and danced since 1997.

Drawing on a lifetime immersed in dance and Andalucía, she created The Timedance Chronicles, weaving together ballet, flamenco, romance and time travel into stories where music, memory and destiny are never far apart.

When she isn’t writing or teaching, she can usually be found at a live music gig, spending time with her wonderfully creative friends, or quiet evenings on the sofa with PJ Harvey (her cat, not the singer) and whatever’s on Netflix.

Two dances, one life

The books grew from the places she has lived.

The ballet years

The first book is drawn from the world she knows best: the discipline of the barre, the ache of ambition, and a city she grew up dancing in. A Dance Through Time moves between 1990s Birmingham and the gaslit stages of 1843 London.

The flamenco fire

The love of flamenco that carried her to Andalucia becomes the beating heart of Book Two. The dance changes, the longing does not. A Dance Between Lives follows the story south.
